Hampton Court Palace
Magnificent Hampton Court boasts more than five centuries of Royal history. Set in 60 acres of parkland it has much to impress the visitor and is a mere 12 miles from central London.
Our knowledgeable driver guides will take you to the palace, and insure you miss nothing of what it has to offer.
A favourite palace of Henry VIII's, The much-married monarch appropriated the palace from his Lord Chancellor, Cardinal Wolsey in 1529, and it remained a Royal residence for more than 200 years.
Set on the banks of the River Thames, visitors have the opportunity of enjoying the stunning architecture and gardens, alongside impressive displays such as the Royal Art Collection spanning 500 years.
Other highlights include the State Apartments, 36,000 feet of Tudor kitchens, a Great Hall and one of the earliest purpose-built toilet blocks.
Of course for many people its number one attraction is the world-famous hedge maze, planted as part of the gardens laid out for William of Orange between 1689 and 1695 by George London and Henry Wise.
Described with great wit in Jerome K. Jerome's novel 'Three Men in a Boat', Hampton Court Maze continues to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
The trip will also offer you the chance to sample the 900 years of Royal history at nearby Windsor Castle.
The castle itself is one of the Queen's favourite homes, and within its majestic surroundings, monarchs have been married, imprisoned and buried over the centuries.
Should you wish to do so, you will be able to visit the castle complex, wander through the sumptuous State Apartments, home to the Queen's extensive private art collection. Open to the public when the royal family is away, these elegant rooms were restored following a devastating fire in 1992.
Other castle highlights include St George's Chapel, which most recently hosted the blessing of Prince Charles's marriage to Camilla, now Duchess of Cornwall.
Nearby attractions include the world-famous Eton College School and Runneymede where King John signed Magana Carta with his barons, and is also the site of the John . F. Kennedy Memorial.
